Who we are & what we do

East Hunsbury Parish Council is made up of 12 elected councillors who serve for a four year term, or are co-opted when a vacancy arises. All Councillors are holders of public office and give their time voluntarily.

The Clerk to the Council is Mrs. Caroline Holgate who looks after the day to day running of the Council and is the Responsible Finance Officer.

Council Meetings - Full council meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, except for August when no meetings are held. See our Calendar of Meetings for more information about dates, times and locations of our meetings. Meetings are open to everyone to attend and we would be pleased to welcome you along.

East Hunsbury Parish Council was formed on the 1st April 2015. The parish had previously formed part of the much larger parish of Wootton & East Hunsbury, and two new, separate, parishes were formed after a Community Governance Review.

The inaugural meeting of East Hunsbury Parish Council was held on 21st May 2015.

Our Mission Statement

East Hunsbury Parish Council will work to maintain East Hunsbury as a safe, attractive and welcoming area to live, work and visit. We will always strive to ensure that local residents have a voice in parish matters, and that our performance is transparent and clearly communicated to them at all times.

Our agreed Aims & Objectives (in order of priority):

  1. Engagement with our parishioners
  2. To manage the parish council's funds fairly and cost effectively to the utmost benefit of the parish
  3. Improvement in parks, open spaces and general environment
  4. To enhance the health and wellbeing of our parishioners
  5. Working to reduce traffic issues and crime
  6. Maximum usage of the Blacky More Community Centre.

Parish Council Elections

Parish Council Elections will next take place in May 2020.

Any elector over the age of 18, who is a citizen of the Commonwealth, or member state of the European Union is eligible to stand for office as a Parish Councillor.

Ordinary elections generally coincide with elections at district level, where nominations for the position of parish councillor will be received. However, on occasion a casual vacancy arises, and interested electors can apply to be co-opted to the parish council.

Standing Orders

Standing orders are the written rules of East Hunsbury Parish Council. They are used to confirm the Council's internal organisational, administrative and procurement procedures and procedural matters for meetings. They are not the same as the policies of a Council but they may refer to them.

Members Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct sets out the standard of conduct expected from East Hunsbury Parish Councillors.
