East Hunsbury Remembers
Annual community project and public installations
East Hunsbury doesn't have a war memorial and so the focus of our Remembrance events has become the Remembrance Benches in Grangewood Park.
Our community project continues to expand, with an outdoor installation at Hunsbury Library. Hundreds of poppies have been created by crafters, local schools and community groups - knitted, felted, recycled poppies - and these are added to year on year.
Feedback from the community was hugely positive. We thank all of the volunteers who give their time to East Hunsbury Remembers.

In 2022 Wreaths were laid on behalf of the residents and parish council by:
Paula Blake (Seniors rep), Cllr Maggie Allen (Chair, Community Engagement Committee), Cllr Claire Douglas (Parish Council Chairman), Ollie Lyons (East Hunsbury WI), and Cllr Ron Firman.

Our commemoration to specifically remember VE and VJ day - Cllr Claire Douglas planted an English Walnut tree, which will grow to give shelter at the memorial seating area in Grange Wood Park.

Each year, East Hunsbury Rocks group, create remembrance stones for our community display. For 2020, this included a special commemorative stone, which we will display each year, alongside their named rocks. The named rocks are inscribed with the names of family members, who gave their lives in conflict. These are hidden in our parks, for people to find and rehide.
