Councillor Maggie Allen
I moved to East Hunsbury in 1991 when the estate was still being developed. It had everything I was looking for – access to the M1 motorway as I was working in London, good housing and a mix of parks and open spaces – essential as I have a dog!
I originally joined the Friends of the Parks group who reported to the previous parish council and when the new East Hunsbury Parish Council was formed in 2015, I was co-opted. I have served as Vice-Chair and Chairman during my time on the Council. My main interest is bringing our community together in whatever ways we can, and our Summer Fete of 2019 was just one marvellous example of that.
Although Covid-19 put a stop to many of our plans for the community, we have continued, where possible, to run small group activities, and other projects via Zoom, social media – and even via letter writing!
I am proud to be a part of this vibrant and progressive council, and look forward to being able to do more as the restrictions are eased.
Maggie is the Chairman of the Community Engagement Committee, and a member of the Resources Committee and the Parks & Open Spaces and Climate Change Committee.
